In a class, all the students are graded in four subjects – Mathematics, Science, Social and English – based on their performance. In each subject, a student can receive any one grade among A, B, C, D and E. Further, each grade carries a different value and each subject has a different weightage.
The Final Grade Point of a student is calculated using the following formula for four subjects 1, 2, 3, 4.
If V1, V2, V3, and V4 represent the values of the grades he received in the four subjects and W1, W2, W3 and W4 represent the weightage of the four subjects then;
Final Grade Point = (V1W1+V2W2+V3W3+V4W4) / (W1+W2+W3+W4)
Note: The Final Grade Point calculated as above is always rounded off to the third decimal place.
The following bar-graph shows, for each subject, the distribution of the students in the class by the grades they received in that subject. The tables below the chart present the values of different grades and the weightage for different subjects.
Grade | Value |
A | 10 |
B | 8 |
C | 6 |
D | 4 |
E | 2 |
Subject | Weightage |
Math | 3 |
Science | 4 |
Social | 2.5 |
English | 1.5 |
